Conversation with Clara Blocman, founder of Ysé

On the occasion of the launch of Ysé’s new Les Essentiels collection, we have joined forces to explore what is most intimate to us: our daily gestures, our rituals, our tribe, and the people who shape it.

Ysé is a brand that, like us, holds bodies close to its heart. Together, we have given a voice to four inspiring women, with diverse journeys and ideas, who have allowed us to rethink intimacy in new ways.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your journey before creating Ysé?

Ysé is my first and only company: I embarked on this entrepreneurial adventure in 2011 at the age of 23. The idea for Ysé was born from a personal observation: at the time, most lingerie focused on padding and push-up effects, whereas I wanted something more natural—pieces that enhance without artifice.

So, I envisioned designs that respect every silhouette with elegance and delicacy, lingerie that celebrates women as they are. This approach later evolved with the introduction of swimwear and an intimate wardrobe, always guided by the same commitment to sincerity and kindness.

If you had to define the three core values that guide you?

Sincerity, excellence, and commitment.

Sincerity, because Ysé has always been driven by the desire to support women authentically, celebrating their natural beauty and creating designs that align with this vision.
Excellence, as each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to cut, materials, and comfort, ensuring that every woman feels both beautiful and comfortable in what she wears.
Commitment, because Ysé is dedicated to a responsible approach—environmentally, socially, and ethically.

How have you balanced building your brand with maintaining a sense of personal privacy?

Creating and growing Ysé is an adventure that deeply excites me, and I remain very involved in it every day. I love being part of every step and watching the brand evolve. At the same time, my personal life is just as intense, as I am also a mother of three children.

Balancing these two worlds isn’t always easy, but it’s this very richness that drives me—a dynamic daily life where the energy I put into my work and the love I give to my family feed into each other. Ultimately, it’s not about maintaining a strict balance but about finding meaning and fulfillment in both spheres.

How has being a mother influenced the way you see your work and your priorities at Ysé?

Motherhood has profoundly shaped my approach to work and my priorities within Ysé. It has taught me to be both committed and pragmatic, to infuse meaning into every action, and to always keep in mind what truly matters.

For myself and my team, I want Ysé to be a place of fulfillment—a space where each person can thrive freely, without having to choose between career and personal life. I want our brand to serve freedom and life, fostering an environment where we can invest ourselves fully while respecting our own balance. Because a brand driven by fulfilled women is a stronger, fairer, and more inspiring brand.

The notion of "comfort" is central to your collections. Beyond clothing, what does comfort mean to you in your personal life?

To me, comfort goes far beyond clothing. It lies in being aligned with my choices, knowing that I am doing my best in harmony with my values. This coherence nurtures self-confidence and allows for a deeper form of comfort—the kind that brings freedom and serenity in life.

What are the most important values or life lessons you want to teach your children?

I am passionate about passing on curiosity, openness to others, and empathy to my children, as these qualities help them better understand the world around them. By cultivating this awareness, they become conscious of their impact on others and their environment. I hope they grow up with a desire to act, to contribute to a fairer world, and to be respectful of both people and the planet.

What are the greatest lessons that motherhood has taught you as an entrepreneur?

My family helps me focus on what truly matters, to accept that not everything has to be perfect, and to find beauty in every stage—even the most turbulent ones. Ultimately, this mindset also guides me in my work: moving forward with confidence, making clearer choices, and fully embracing the journey.
